Protection Now! Minister Heyman
Email Template:
Dear Minister Heyman,
I wholeheartedly support the present government mandate to fully protect much more of the BC landscape and, most immediately, the protection of the Argenta Face within the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Provincial Park. As we face a worldwide biodiversity crisis, it is essential that we move quickly in BC to do our fair share of protecting nature.
I applaud your protection of the Incomappleux Valley indicating a new beginning for expanding BC's park system. Your protection of this valley recognizes the great importance of protecting old growth forest along with its surrounding landscape. A similar situation exists on the Argenta Face. Plans presented by licensee Cooper Creek Cedar Ltd. (woodlands division of Porcupine Wood Products), target a vital old growth deferral area within a presently unroaded completely intact primary forest. This and other old growth forests on the Argenta Face require full protection within the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Provincial Park.
By protecting the wider landscape, not only is old growth protected, but also the associated habitat and connectivity for mountain caribou, mountain goats, grizzly bears, wolverines and a whole host of other animal and plant life that utilize the Argenta Face. Also protected is arguably the best viewscape on Kootenay Lake which is seen from Kootenay Lake Provincial Park campgrounds and highway 31. Over five kilometres of invaluable Kootenay Lake shore line and sensitive domestic watersheds will be protected.
I will continue to applaud your efforts with the permanent protection of the Argenta Face and will give you a standing ovation on the achievement of 30% protection by 2030. As proposed by Mt. Willet Wilderness Forever, please take action to protect the Argenta Face within the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Provincial Park.
Sincerely,
(Sign Your Full Name, Address & Postal Code, and Telephone Number)
